How come nearly all developed nations have no less than 10 public holidays whilst england has a measly 8?

Some nations eg Japan have around 15 and japan like the uk is a hard working nation. For england i propose celebrating st. georges day and moving perhaps the late may bank holiday (31st may this year) to autumn time around october to perhaps to celebrate harvest festival period. Anyone agree?|||the rest of the world is celebrating thier independence from bigger countries, like England.|||I agree. Considering financial services makes up such a large proportion of the UK economy it seems only fair to have a few more bank holidays.
