Do you believe that America is the chief police of all the nations?

America acts as police and arbiter between nations in conflict, and sometimes with agenda outside UN protocols.Do you really like what America is doing? Is it really for democracy or just a front to control the weaker nations?|||Well, at least I believe America shouldn't be the police for all nations. Unilateral action is rarely a good idea. Getting the support of the international community will reduce the time and money that the United States uses, not to mention improve our current shaky standing in global opinion. We should not act without the support of the international community, nor should we preemptively attack other countries. There is a fine line between preemptive war and flat out invasion and conquest, and we need to be careful not to cross that line.

As far your second question goes, of course it is about control. There is a reason that we go into some countries to "promote" democracy and not others: we see potential (oil, power, influence, etc.) in some countries and not others. Again, preemptive war is not a good idea, but we have done it before, and will sadly probably do it again.

Personally, I feel we have enough problems inside our own country right now that we can't afford to police the world constantly, unless something like the genocide in Darfur is happening.|||Who else can? Everyone else is doing the fighting.|||Yes, America does often seem to act like the police, but only when it is relevant to our governments interests... or when a major corporation comes crying for help, like the banana company with its crucial supply of bananas that we could not possibly do without....|||Yes and No- I like America (Born %26amp; Raised), I like what our soldiers themselves do. I'm not exacly happy with leadership but we've been working on getting that changed lately. Hopefully the Hawks will go home to roost a bit now, and the economy thing will keep more eyes focused on home.

And Yes and No. It is for democracy. At least that's what we'd like to see happen ideally. Sometimes we just step in to try to preserve the status quo...which isn't all that smart either...but for the most part- we're not out to take over the world. At least not with the military. Microsoft, McDonalds and Walmart maybe...^_^|||America does this for one simple reason.

Because if we do not act - nobody will.

Look at the genocides that occurred in the Balkans in the 1990s. Every nation in Europe simply stood around and whined "Why dosen't somebody do something?" It took the US to step in and stop the killing.

Another example is the mess in Africa. Europe created the problems there - but they are expecting the US to clean it up for them.
