Why is it that only bad news about nations on the African continent make the headlines all the time?

All we see on our television set, when any African nation is in the news, are hungry malnourished children, famine, wars, displaced persons .only the negative. But there is so much positive - such as world class universities and educational sinstitutions, exceptional natural and atrificial edifices and resources, exceptional people with great histories and a great future. That is all hidden from recipients of Western media organizations and their products. Is this due to bias or ignorance or prejudice or lack of interest?|||Headlines are desinged to sell newspapers. Godd news rarely makes headlines unless it has a strong local impact. Africa, by virtue of the fact that it's so far away, and few Americans ever travel there, will rarely have posative news reported in the papers here.

I don't think it's prejudicial at all, as you will see the same tendency with respect to South and Latin America, Asia, Australia and most of Europe. Even parts of the United States rarely receive posative press in other regions. It's just the way news is sold.|||Because here in America, we are told that we are the biggest and bestest country in the whole wide world and that other countries are full of savages and they are starving and in famine. We should be so happy to live here and be thankful for our government and listen to everything that they say because they have only our best interests at heart. We are the only real democracy in the whole wide world and all those other poor countries... Well, we will just have to go and liberate them, now won't we?|||Because Bad News sell faster , then Good News are not really move your papers , NOTE you must pay a journalist to write good about you|||Oprah's always over there doing good things
