IS America unique and different from all other nations in the world?

One of the central questions in US history has been the question of American exceptionalism, whether America is unique and different from all other nations in the world. With that in mind, take a major issue in American history - slavery, the American Revolution, the Civil War, etc.

1. How does it look different from the perspective of Atlantic History?

2. Do you think these differences illuminate or obscure the realities of America's historical experience?|||yeah

they have more obese people, and more debt|||please, all countries are completely different to one another and, therefore, unique. i agree with the post above me, there are many government issues (not to mention the ignorance spread vastly over the continent).

dont get me wrong, i like america. i like some of your food and your tv shows, but, to me, it is far from the 'greatest country in the world' (as mentioned before), and saying things like that makes you look even more arrogant and ignorant.|||lets just say, to live in as a a boy and/or teenager is great,

to visit the us as a tourist is great cause america basically/almost has everything you would possibly want to see

but to live in and work in the us is a diffirent story..

you have no governmental benefits (ergo health care) etc...

and you need a good job which pays well or otherwise, youre screwed ;)|||As an American.. Best nation? No. There is NO best nation. Unique? Yes. All nations are unique.|||Yeah were they greatest country in the world. just listen to this song and youl see a little clearer. You're the Best Around by Joe Esposito
